Successful weekend in Spain

Fischer Racing-drivers scored points in both races Fischer Racing experienced the most successful weekend of the 2010 GT3 European Championship season so far at this weekend’s third round at Jarama in Spain. On the former Formula One track outside Madrid, Christoffer Nygaard (DK) and Mikko Eskelinen (FI) scored points in both races in the Fischer Racing-Ford GT.

The first race held on Sunday morning started promising for Fischer Racing. Mikko Eskelinen started from 16th position and gained four positions in the first half of the race. The Finn handed over the Ford GT half way trough the race on 12th position to team mate Nygaard, who finally finished sixth. A contact with a Porsche in a fight of Nygaard for fifth position on the last couple of laps kept the Fischer mechanics busy in break between the two races, as the steering had to be changed after a contact with the Porsche. Just a few minutes before the start of the second race at Sunday afternoon, the car was ready for racing again.

Nygaard started from tenth on the grid into race two and handed over the Ford GT to Eskelinen on eight position. Eskelinen then drove one of his best races in the FIA GT3 European Championship so far. He impressed with some nice duels until the chequered flag felt and finally finished seventh.

Christoffer Nygaard: „I’m quite satisfied with my first race. In the second half of the race I could pass a lot of our competitors, it was quite fun. But for the second race we had to change the steering after I had a contact with a Porsche and we didn’t had sufficient time to adjust the steering perfect for the race, so I didn’t risked to much at the start of the second race. The first laps were not so good, but then it went a little better with each lap. In the second half, Mikko drove a really strong race.

Mikko Eskelinen: „I’m quite used to our Ford GT now and I’m really feeling comfortable in the car. I’m satisfied with positions six and seventh, although I had expected a little bit more as we did a test race on this track two weeks ago. In the second race things were a little bit more complicated, as the steering was not entirely adjusted after the quick repair between the two races. But after a few laps it wasn’t a problem. I had a lot of fun today, especially in the second race, I had some nice fights.“
